How did you get into the industry and what was your first job?
My first advertising job was selling radio advertising on an all news format radio station in Little Rock, Arkansas.
What can you tell us about your current job?
As a freelance media buyer, I have the opportunity to work on projects that vary client to client and agency to agency.  It’s a great way to learn the best and most current approaches.

What advice would you give someone new to the industry?
The business is about producing results for the client.  Put producing results for the client first and everything else will fall into place.  Also, don’t look at vendors as the enemy, work in partnership with them.
Have you had a mentor?
Because my husband is in the same industry on the production side, he has been my number one advisor, cheerleader and primary mentor.  It's surprising how many principles from the production side translate to media buying.  We are both big believers in strong partnerships with our vendors.

What has been your biggest achievement in your career thus far?
Starting my own company, everything previous has paved the way to this.
What is the one truth that has held constant throughout your career?
Never forget it’s a small community and always deal with integrity.

                                                 Congratulations Joan!!
